How to layer peptides with retinol, vitamin C and acids

Peptides are some of the most compatible actives in skincare — but a few combinations work better when you give them space. Here is our formulators’ cheat-sheet.
Peptides + retinol: yes
Many people use both. Signal peptides support firmness while retinol drives surface renewal. If your skin is sensitive, use retinol at night and copper peptides in the morning.
Copper peptides + vitamin C or acids: alternate
L-ascorbic acid and AHA/BHA exfoliants work at a low pH. That environment can loosen copper from the peptide and make both less effective. Use them in different routines or on alternate days.
Expression peptides (SNAP-8): pair with anything
SNAP-8, Argireline and SYN-AKE are happy alongside niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, retinol and vitamin C.
The order
